The Valaam Society of America is an Orthodox Christian society for laity, dedicated to promoting and preserving the ancient Christian Tradition passed down from the Apostolic Age to our times by the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church. Through its activities and the publication of Russky Palomnik, the Valaam Society of America seeks to: make available to the general public an understanding of the Orthodox Faith and the ideals of traditional Christian spirituality; promote and support monastic life as well as individual ascetic struggle among lay disciples of Christ; and, inspire new generations to a life of self-sacrifice and apostolic activity.
