Burning Bush with Moses

Burning Bush with Moses Russian Orthodox Icon. This icon represents the burning bush that the Prophet Moses saw on Mount Horeb on the Sinai Peninsula, see Exodus 3:2. The first icons of this type originated from St. Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai, which is located where Moses saw the burning bush that was not consumed. Moses saw within this bush a vision of the prefiguring of the Virgin Birth of Christ. In this small icon Moses is shown taking off his sandals, and then standing during the actual vision.

Size:

#6 - S (2½" x 3" on ½" wood).

Icons manufactured by a Russian supplier using their proprietary process of applying successive layers of color and metallic-like patterns resulting in a brilliant, detailed, and nearly three dimensional appearance. (Note: The photograph of this icon will be updated soon)

Icon inscriptions in Church Slavonic.
