Nicholas Saint of Myra winter

Saint Nicholas Saint of Myra, winter version with bishop's mitre covering his head.  Russian Orthodox Icon.  Saint Nicholas the wonderworker is the true prototype of the modern version of Santa Claus. But the real St. Nicholas was probably quite thin as he loved to fast from food from an early age until the end of his life in the 4th Century. This recent icon perhaps caters to the modern image of St. Nick as it shows him slightly plumper than usually shown in Orthodox icons.

Sizes:

#457 - S (2½" x 3" on ½" wood).
#A523 - M (3½" x 4" on ⅝" wood).
#A844 - ML (5" x 6¼" on ¾" wood).
#1252 - L (6¾" x 8¼" on ¾" wood).

Icons manufactured by a Russian supplier using their proprietary process of applying successive layers of color and metallic-like patterns resulting in a brilliant, detailed, and nearly three dimensional appearance.

Icon inscriptions in Church Slavonic.
