Christ Made Without Hands with a thin film metallic colored riza (flat). Russian Orthodox Icon. The darker color of this icon symbolizes the ancient roots of the original icon which Christ made Himself in the 1st Century. The orginal icon was lost in 1204 but thousands of different copies exist all over the world. It is an icon that every iconographer paints at least once during his or her lifetime.
